ELECTORAL CAMPAIGN CLIENTS 

Mothership Strategies is launching an electoral campaigns-only focused arm of the firm. This role will lead the planning and execution of integrated fundraising and advocacy campaigns across digital channels. Significant time will be spent on business development. The campaigns organization will work independently to deliver high-impact programs on tight timelines. 

 

OVERALL FUNCTION

The Director of Electoral Campaigns is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, performance, and growth/business development of the organization. This role leads cross-functional teams, manages budgets and resource allocation, sets operational priorities, and ensures programs and client work are delivered at a high standard. The Director partners with senior leadership to translate strategic goals into execution plans and measurable results.

 

The Director will report to Mothership’s Managing Partner and work closely with Senior Leadership while running an autonomous department.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Autonomous Department Leadership
    • Work with Partners/Principals to develop and implement innovative strategies, workflows, and efficiencies to maximize fundraising revenue across various channels.
    • Lead on business development initiatives, including identifying and onboarding potential clients and expanding the work of current clients.
    • Maintain content quality expectations and guidelines.
 
  • Client Performance Management
    • Provide high-level client management oversight, including nurturing relationships with clients and maintaining client satisfaction.
    • Oversee and approve fundraising projections; set fundraising goals; and maintain a deep understanding of client numbers.
    • Draft, review and sign off on email copy for select clients, as needed.
    • Attend client planning meetings, external client calls, high level meetings at needed regular cadences. 
 
  • Operational Staff Management
    • Manage and develop support staff (to be hired), including conducting reviews, weekly 1-1 meetings, and approving time-off requests.
    • Ensure team efficiency and proactively identify and address potential weaknesses. 
    • Oversee the implementation of hiring plans; stay aware of staffing capacity needs; keep partners and leadership aware of staffing needs and propose changes as business dictate.
 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 2+ cycles of digital strategy experience for political campaigns or organizations.
  • Proven experience in managing teams, developing staffing and maintaining client relationships.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills: governance; change management; delegation; communication; conflict resolution; feedback; problem-solving and decision making
  • A comprehensive understanding of political campaign cycles and the digital fundraising landscape.
  • Proven ability to innovate and execute fundraising strategies.
  • Demonstrated expertise with digital fundraising strategy and content.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills; ability to synthesize complex strategy and messaging to staff in an empathic, thorough manner
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Our workforce is currently remote
  • Typically, 40 hours a week although more is required during peak times.
  • Attending networking and business development meetings/events - likely to be held in the DC metro area
  • Sedentary work; Extended time spent in front of a computer screen, Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Repetitive motion: typing
